Awarded Amount: $1,000
Nominated By: DeAnn Currin, Principal at Sheridan Elementary School
Nomination: Cindy's leadership impacts the thinking, leadership, and deep care for students, our District, and our community. She has experience as a teacher, principal, District Curriculum and Administrative leader. She closed Hawthorne School and opened Adams Elementary School. Her knowledge of instruction and passion for learning are inspiring, supportive, and solution oriented. Her communication in person, writing, and via technology comes along side of each person and supports them in what they need next. She is approachable, full of energy, and compassion. The SOUL part of this award matches the way she works with others with the focus on children and their learning. She is always available and gives her all to this important work. She has a vision that transcends work or a job--it is her mission to help others in their learning--child, teacher, parent, administrator, friend, colleague.
Cindy's work in Title I Schools, old schools, new schools, and District Office gave her experiences to lead and serve children, families, and staff. She has a passion for learning that makes a difference and she has the ability to support, inspire, and lead others. Her leadership in the Time, Curriculum, Instruction, and Pandemic committees provides input, learning, and leadership for our District and Community. She is an amazing leader that should be recognized for her dedication, love, and hard work for all children in our District! Recognition for the little things (skirts for students to wear to the One Room Schoolhouse, calming an upset parent, supporting an overwhelmed principal, teaching aspiring leaders, finding the answers to questions in a pandemic, keeping hope alive) are just as important as the big things. She attends to them all with the same care, thoughtfulness, and dedication.
