Nomination: Shelby Mutchie is an outstanding Building Coordinator. She is a servant leader to our Pyrtle community and works tirelessly to meet the needs of our staff and students. Shelby builds life long relationships with the parents, students, and staff that she works with and this shows when previous individuals still contact her or stay in touch with her to share successes and when they need help. She is committed to student and staff growth through learning and development. She is never afraid to take on a challenge and to collaborate with others to solve issues in our school. She is organized, dependable, and always honest.
Shelby makes sure that all stakeholders have a voice when making plans for success for our students. She digs down into data to make the best decisions for students to help them learn and grow emotionally or academically. She is approachable, a team player, and her colleagues trust her to do the right thing at all times. Shelby is a natural leader who is able to take input from others and make things happen! Shelby oversees our intervention program, works closely with our school psychologist, and makes sure that all students have their learning needs met. The development of this program over the past 2 years was an integral part of why Pyrtle earned the National Blue Ribbon nomination and award.
Shelby is always learning and growing or looking for opportunities to do so.She attends and teaches staff development to our staff at Pyrtle and for theDistrict Special Education Department. She partakes in on-line learning opportunities such as the BIST, PBIS, Special Education, and other curricular areas. Shelby is our staff development leader for Tier 1 and Tier 2committees, in our SAP and 504 processes, all of our Special Education trainings and staff development, and whatever else is needed in our school.
Shelby's strengths as a leader are that she is a life long learner, who has outstanding professional judgement. She goes above and beyond her job duties to make Pyrtle a better place. She makes the others around her better and is always helping to develop those around her to learn and grow. Her positive attitude is contagious and helps her to see the best in others. She gains input from others to make the best decisions for our students and is an outstanding, transparent communicator.
