Carissa Weier

Moore Middle School
Special Education Teacher
Nominated By: Associate Principal Colleen McBride

Carissa Weier makes one of the toughest jobs in the building look effortless. Her commitment to her students is unparalleled; they know that they will work hard in her class, and that she will work hard for them. She knows their needs and does what it takes to not only help them access the curriculum, but also reach their full potential. Even when she has a ton on her plate, she always has time to listen to students and make them feel valued as humans. She is an asset to families, keeping them informed about their student's progress at school and providing expert advice.

Her work ethic and ability to navigate difficult situations makes her someone who other staff seek out for advice and guidance. She can listen to a problem with a student or class, and have three incredible ideas that make sense, address needs, and are easy to implement. Carissa's building leadership has made a tremendous impact on our school culture and all students. She makes our whole staff better because of her leadership, example, and genuine commitment to doing the right thing for students all the time.
