Elicia Davenport
Irving Middle School
8th Grade Math Teacher
Nominated By: Principal Rachael Kluck-Spann
Elicia is a phenomenal math educator at Irving Middle School. She meets every student where they are at, provides encouragement/support as needed and then goes above and beyond to ensure students make progress and thrive in her classroom. Elicia has established a positive classroom culture that welcomes all students, ensures all students voices are heard in her learning community and promotes collaboration among scholars. In turn, students have gained a sense of connection and are empowered to help one another and become academic leaders. Students who may have been reluctant math learners in the past, learn to work through the 'productive struggle' and flourish in Mrs. Davenports classroom. Mrs. Davenport is kind, patient and thoughtful in all that she does as a teacher and her students know how much she cares.
Elicia serves as one of our Student Council Sponsors. Her passion for building community and striving to create a positive school culture are evident as student council has promoted, planned and facilitated multiple school wide events such as quarterly school wide spirit weeks, 'Socktober' clothing drive, Irving Movie Night, candy-grams and a 'Spring Fling' school dance. Student Council members learn different leadership skills and learn valuable lessons about working together and carrying out programming for Irving students.
Irving is a better place because of Mrs. Davenport, and we are so fortunate that she is a part of our Irving family!
