Taylor Schmohr

Zeman Elementary
Counselor
Nominated By: Principal Rik Devney

Taylor Schmohr exemplifies care and compassion that align with our core values at Zeman Elementary. As a counselor at Zeman, Taylor plays a critical role in supporting students, families and staff. She understands the importance of building trusting relationships as a prerequisite for open and honest partnerships. Her presence within our school provides a sense of support regardless of the circumstances. Not only does she understand the value of personal connection, she also is a visionary in terms of building system wide supports as we rebranded our counseling program when Taylor was hired four years ago. Taylor has played a key role in building a counseling program supported by research based practices that are proven to have an impact.

In addition, Taylor has had a direct impact on reducing disproportionality by providing additional social/emotional support and empowerment groups focused on culture, self worth, and engagement. She has a knack for identifying a need and taking action. Taylor's advocacy for others paired with her drive to take action is what makes her 'results' driven counselor. Taylor has also played a key role in supporting other counselors within LPS and is well respected by her colleagues at Zeman. She is a true inspiration to others, which makes her a perfect recipient for Zeman's 2023-24 Inspire Award.
